I am looking forward to giving a session with violin and voice in the “Sound
Bath” series at Force and Flow in Brooklyn on Friday, August 27, from 7:00 to
8:30 p.m.
Music can be a way into a deeper silence that relaxes our bodies and minds.
This workshop will take us into that silence between musical experiences,
listening to Indian music and Bach on the violin, singing Indian tones and
Western vocalizations, bathing in the sound and silence. We will enter into
the profound yet simple experience of silence through the music, deepening our
breathing, increasing our awareness of vibration in the body, and taking away
new ways to relax and meditate through music.

Indian Ragas, Bach and the Folk Music of Tagore and Scotland
Concert
Michael Braudy, violin and Dibyarka Chatterjee, tabla, with David Taylor,
tamboura play the classical music of India, and folk tunes of Scotland and
Tagore.
This Saturday we will be giving a Spring concert at Atmananda Yoga in New York
City. We will include two ragas, two movements of solo Bach, and several
beautiful Indian tunes by Rabindranath Tagore. The folk melodies show Tagore’s
connection to the folk music of Scotland and Ireland, and we will play the
related Celtic tunes.
Dibyarka Chatterjee is a young and promising tabla player from the Farrukhabad
Gharana, initiated by his father Pandit Samir Chatterjee, a world-renowned
Tabla maestro. He performs, collaborates with dance and fusion
musician/composers, and composes music. Since 2006, he has been an integral
part of Chhandayan, an organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation
of Indian Classical music in North America.
