the sounds and scales of the rich classical music of India. Experience
how ragas can affect our bodies, emotions and minds. You will
listen to the music and learn the basic scale categories and how
they compare to those of Western music. Encounter the emotion
of this varied musical life, through hearing and singing (no experience
required for this exploration!). Further explore the music, its
notes and patterns, for its respective uses in promoting health
and well-being.

Michael
Braudy is an experienced violinist in Western and North
Indian
classical music who has recently performed at the Calcutta School
of Music
and the American Center in Calcutta. His discography includes
Vriddhi,
Sumanas, and Awakening Peace, with noted veena player and medical
doctor,
P. Bharathi, evoking the specific benefits of ragas for health.
